Guilty as Charged!

Good morning, Comrades..

Sometimes I surprise myself.. Like Friday!
What was I thinking?!?!

_________________________

I'm disappointed at how things are turning out for Egypt. The brutality!
A very promising movement, yet it's like they're back to square one now.
Or am I wrong?

My heart goes out to them.

It had finally hit me.. the power of anonymity.
Oh how I'd love to dish about some fellow bloggers and bloggers-to-be (Nothing negative. Well, not necessarily)
But, since they know who I am and vice versa, It'll never happen.

The idea is to start a whole new underground blog..
I'd ask you guys to suggest a nickname, but that would totally blow my cover, wouldn't it?

So yeah,, had one weird weekend.
How did yours go?

One last note: If you're thinking this post is shallow, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Nazzal,
If I knew codes I wouldn't be here :)

Ha!
I say its time for some fluffy posts all around. Long live the fluffy stuff! It smoothes all the rough edges of life quite nicely!

( I am suffering from a bout of brain rot. All I want to do is read Glamour and Self magazine, and go shopping for lipsticks. I may post about the benefits of matte vs. gloss and summer shimmer bronzers on my blog. So who is feeling more shallow right now my dear Shurouq? ;) )

Egypt!

I really hope things calm down in that spot of Arabia. Sometimes I think I shouldn’t contradict any politician, as if I was in their shoes I would be puzzled with the situation and won’t know what to do! However, there are some interesting facts worth mentioning about Egypt.

Firstly, The most popular opposition party, Al-ikhwan, is banned in Egypt, and some experts say if a truly democratic election was to be held in Egypt, Al-ikhwan would probably win. Movements such as Kefayya and figures such as Nawal Al-Sadawi are popular amongst only a minority of the educated Egyptians.

Secondly, since the eighties, many of the old extremists’ ideas about jihad have flourished amongst al-ikhwan. Sayed Qutb’s ideas gained special popularity among them, and from that era, Ayman Al-Thwahiri appeared on the surface of the political opposition, and then emerged to what he is know today- the master mind of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda.

In view of the facts mentioned above, if Egypt was to be a truly democratic country, it would have to give Al-ikhwan more freedom in expressing their thoughts as well as economical freedom. Of course, not only the west wouldn’t like to see that coming to reality, but many Arab politicians, religious leaders, and technocrats don’t favour that too.

The question now is how to stop the flow of extremists’ ideas in Egypt as well as the Islamic world? Should we ban such movements and bomb their strong holds as the US is doing, or should we try to solve the issue by discussing it over with the extremists?

Surly, many Arab politician can’t be asked thinking about these matters, so they have handed everything to the big fat boss, the US!

MsBaker,
Reading your post on "grace" earlier, it's pretty hard to believe you're anywhere near shallowness..
Who are you trying to fool, girl? :)

You're argument applies to almost every peomised political reform in the region.. We all have our doubts and fears, but we've been repeating the same record for the last 50 years and it's not getting us anywhere, is it?
Change is inevitable, whether it comes from the US or from fellow green Martian creatures.

Flamingoliya,
Hehe..Stay tuned. You never know.

:)

You're right, Ayya.. I don't have the energy to start another blog.

Sheba,
Sooo relieved you brought up the heat factor.. I knew there's always something/one to blame :)
