well, in theory, yes, but in life, as day by day, we get used to them, the thrill is reduced to familiarity, now the colors that cause the attack has to be new, like viruses :P
I think it relates to memory -as you said nostalgic- it is exactly like hearing a piece of music and I think the thrill might refer to the stir of the whole context that the color had occurred before.. so everything comes together in a semi-random way
what I really love is how a certain color sometimes let you imagine a certain letter for example or shape!
just like hearing a piece of music reminds you of a smell or drawing or even a certain taste of food!

I didn't like this post not only because I didn't - or rather couldn't - relate to it (nor did I want to actually) but also cuz it highlights our somewhat inferior status, as males, to go beyond what lies on the surface and what is clear and, ultimately, what is acknowledged. As opposed to how you girls think, hence my initial "terrible" labeling.
But something good came out of this post. It reminded me of an article I once read on how men and women think.
A group of men and women - each group placed separately - were given certain sentences and were asked whether they thought those sentences rhymed or not.
Upon answering, the men's brains were sending out one signal saying "Yes, it did rhyme" or "No, it didn't". The women's brains, however, were sending out two signals at the same time; one signal was going "Yes, it did rhyme" and the other signal went "And what a lovely rhyme it is".
I laughed upon reading the article, and couldn't help but fall in love with every woman on earth. This post kinda reminded me of that.
I also felt sad since the aesthetic value women bring - and have brought in over time - was and still is underestimated and unappreciated. What's worse is how it's often labeled as a shortcoming rather than a superior form of intellect that incorporates aesthetics and creativity.
I don't know why I always come at the question of "us and them", maybe because my blog's color is gray? ;p
anyways, I like the way you put it though I think that the result of the experiment demonstrated by you is not just that we're different..
what I see in it is that men's should build upon a premise 'then' realization comes into place, i.e. belief comes first then comes value..
I don't think it just refers to Newton's reactionary law
we both have the same intuition process it is just being delayed or differed in time which made it more clear to men and more confusing to women.
what I think as really beautiful is when we deal with the surface as a verb, because this is how I suppose would make a new realization (not necessarily clear) to women's way of thinking :)
Despite your gray post, you of all girls should realize how overly (and femininely) intuitive you are. As incomprehensible as Shurouq's post was, your comment in particular was more complicated. I couldn't make out what you were saying for the life of me. You are definitely privileged and may easily fall into the category of a thinker dressed in pink.
Look at how you ended your argument, with “madry”. Despite your sharp intellect and considerable writing skills, you couldn’t help but revert to being female and toss in that small little word that says a great deal. And it’s that specific word I fell in love with and found to be the most beautiful.
“Madry”, LoL, cutest thing I ever saw.
Not only does the word reflect your gender-like qualities but it also promotes communication rather than have you girls conceal what you should have revealed ages ago.
Oh you wanna go there, LoL. Alright, Miss Deema, I’m down with that. Bear with me though, I beg of you.
As someone who strongly adheres to the philosophy of macrobiotics, I identify with the two forces that attract and complete one another; the yin and the yang. These forces created life on earth and can be seen as polarities that ensure our survival as species and our planets’ survival as well. Water and fire, night and day, hot and cold, positive and negative, man and woman. The yin and yang elements are forces which surround and unify us, as they always have.
These contrasting elements attract one another in an effort to preserve the balance of life. You cannot continuously eat sugar as your body needs salt as well. You cannot sleep all day as your body needs to move around and be productive. On that same level, since we’re speaking about genders, you cannot complete yin with yin, nor yang with yang since these two similar elements – like positives and positives – repel one another (as should they) to ensure that we as two distinct genders (yin and yang) complete one another to ensure health and the natural order of this universe.
Women are yin, their estrogen produces softness, with soft bodies that represent their tenderness and maternity. They are more defensive than aggressive, more fragile than hard, more universal and spiritual than specific and material.
Men are yang, our testosterone causes us to be more active, hard, aggressive, animalistic, physical, material, and specific.
Notice my usage of the word “more” before each adjective since yin and yang are relative – like you pointed out but not the way you intended it to mean. Some men are sensitive and can “relate” to soft and yin-like qualities. Some women can be strong as mountains and pertain yang-like qualities. This is natural since we are not the same as individuals whose left side of their faces are dissimilar to their right side’s.
However, we are two distinctive genders and are – in essence – man and woman; yin and yang who attract and complete one another. A hard woman completes a soft man while a hard man is completed by a soft woman. The attraction between sperm and egg is very strong simply because there is an extreme polarity between the two reproductive cells. And when a man and a woman unite in love, they transcend their individual elements to produce a whole new being that is consisted of both yin and yang; a newborn.
Children and parents, too, exhibit such polarity that attracts them strongly to one another. When a child is young he needs love and affection, which is why a parent feels the need to have him close by. This polarity diminishes once the child grows up and the parent feels happy that he’s going off to form a family of his own. This is because polarity does not exist any more upon the child’s transformation into an adult and therefore, more like his parent.
I can understand where you’re coming from though Deema; I’ve been through courses relating to queer theory as well :-) And lemmi tell you this,
There is nothing as devastating as queer theory. I come from an astonishingly liberal background, emphasis on liberal all the way to my grandparents, and I can honestly say that homosexuality is an attack against oneself, physically and mentally and it is a lifestyle that goes against the natural and balanced order of this universe.
Nature has created us and has provided us with an exemplary body through which we could satisfy our physical and emotional needs. We must respect this body and employ its organs the way they were intended to be used. The anus, for example, is “an opening through which solid waste is excreted.” and should not, therefore, be used during sexual intercourse. Use your bodies – and everything else for that matter – according to its original function.
Queer theory is trying to strip us bare of our organic characteristics as men and women. Men who love their women, look up to them, admire them, care and protect them. And women who offer us a river of tenderness, forgiveness, and God-like caressing of our heart and soul.
There are a few other crucial other points that I should point out, but I must cut myself short since I’m sure you get my point by now. Read Michio Kushi or George Oshawa for further reference.
-----------
Remain feminine, there are still a few good men out there who appreciate – if not worship – a woman like yourself.
May you reap the balance and wellbeing that nature desires for you.
ok now you bear with me please, I'll try all my best to make it clear.
Through queer theory explained in the link I am not suggesting "it" I am suggesting the polar travel in one's external and internal interactions.. the article itself isn't suggesting the middle in the same sense that is normally taken in queer theory which suggests attractions between similar bodies, it suggests time and social encounter, influence and affects.. and it re-evaluates similarities through intense differences in time in respect to polarity..
this suggests that I am subject to time, and there are certain hormonal successions "those you referred to" that allows for feminine or masculine acts accordingly_ and it happens really as a response to my surroundings and my instant intense multiple relativity.
I am so much a woman myself I know that, and proud of such too, but I don't like it when we just keep praising (or cursing) how different we are_ I think realizing differences should take us to another flight of our understandings to relations in life like relations of error, habitual relations, mythical relations or annoyingly real relations :)
REALLY thank you for your genuine reply, and for your sweetness :-)
anonymous I want to say first I came to talk about your experiment story that its very nice and it also made me laugh!!! But your last story about yin or yang is also more wonderful. I dont understand a lot of it but i understand what you are saying killah 3ala ba3ath ya3ni
I want to ask you few questions if you dont mind like what is your back ground? What is you religion? What make you think like this unique way? eee oo what's your e-mail i must know :P because you dont have identity or e-mail option
Deema, You’re most welcome. Word to the wise though,
Do not build anything based on incorrect or unsound principles, such as queer theories, or else your entire discourse will crumble. Build on God instead; not in a religious sense but rather in terms of love as opposed to hate, building as opposed to destruction, and balance as opposed to chaos. This type of principle does not exist in queer theories but in macrobiotics, for example, that aims at prolonging people’s lives and ensuring the wellbeing of their physical and mental state.
I fear you Deema; you are perceptive and the astute comment you left at ‘s latest post mirrors our failure as men who have lost our identity and our instinctive desire to protect women rather than abuse them. That resentful comment isn’t misplaced but is justified, and it’s always painful to look at our shortcomings and failures.

I’m glad you liked the experiment. I’m also glad you understood my comment (as opposed to some others who drove me up the wall all day long :-P ) As for answering your questions, LoL, why don’t I just write down my name, address, and phone number while I’m at it?
Personal questions can be intrusive and besides the point. I’ll answer what I think is relatable. My background is ordinary, just a regular Joe born to parents who love one another and teach by example.
As for my “feminist” tendencies and how I feel about women marginalization in general, well I got that from women who have kindly allowed me into their world. I have been an active member at a center that offers services to women who are abused, or simply need help (was initially there in support of a friend who got beat up by her boy friend, an American friend – don’t get any ideas now, LoL).
I walked into a roomful of women and embarked on a painful journey that raised my awareness about male privilege and about the harsh realities countless women go through. It took months for the ladies to get accustomed to my presence as I was the only man in the room. I was initially known as the guy who “walked in and ruined it all”, LoL as one woman told me months later.
I witnessed heart wrenching episodes where women were forced to stop looking at us as a source of aid, protection, and comfort and started perceiving us as hurtful and cruel. I can’t fully write about it here but the bottom line is that I was able to acknowledge how hard life is for them. And they were absolutely amazing; their kindness to one another, to me, and their ability, despite their abused state, to find it in themselves to keep awarding their children all the love they could give. There is no need for an e-mail since I prefer public comments that everyone may benefit from as I have from others’. I also have a strict policy against leading girls on and breaking their little hearts. Anyone who does that deserves me comin’ at him with a baseball bat swinging.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta get the hell outta here; I have a paper due in an hour and a half and I gotta get crackin’.
I never read about queer theory to be honest until this article, i thought it would justify how irrelevant is queer theory (even theory of gender) to deleuze's becoming-woman conception and to my justifications.. he always takes very well known concepts of life and and overlaps them on other values of life.
this book is "a thousand plateaus", I recommend reading it (although too big) hope by then you would get me right, as it is written by a man after all ;p the philosopher is empiricist and naturalist..
he refers a lot to Bergson, Leibniz , Hume and Whitehead, he brings science altogether in a beautiful manner. (those who read and know me will smile at this saying o_h Deleuze and Deema again ;p)
-
"and it’s always painful to look at our shortcomings and failures."
looking back is the most interesting mind exercise! it just gives you an understanding on how our past gets diffused in obscure randomness you just need to have faith to assert the reason behind its instant order at particular time in a particular state of conscious or unconscious (just like shurouq's) :)
we always have a tendency to weave from our past to our present, that's why I never regret a misunderstanding ,on the contrary, I find it rich with potentials and better understandings (as it reveals up here) misunderstanding (or failure) is "another" understanding that we shouldn't let it go :)
and about your fear statement, come on! what is identity, identity is never fully defined never fully remained... if you want or need to appreciate something in this world it would be in short: time, desire and scale. polarity is a platform rather than a drive. if we fully depended on polarity we would end up with additions "تكاثر" and categories. but time and desire (on different scales) are constructing the magic of life :)

Profound statement, anonymous above.
That was a refreshingly sweet little glimpse, Shurouq. Concise, yet revelatory.
One of your best posts ever.
I didn't like this post not only because I didn't - or rather couldn't - relate to it (nor did I want to actually) but also cuz it highlights our somewhat inferior status, as males, to go beyond what lies on the surface and what is clear and, ultimately, what is acknowledged. But something good came out of this post. It reminded me of an article I once read on how men and women think.

Still don't like the post :-P

I wasn't really criticizing or doubting gender differences but rather imagining new relations derived from the classic image on gender.

looking back is the most interesting mind exercise! it just gives you an understanding on how our past gets diffused in obscure randomness you just need to have faith to assert the reason behind its instant order at particular time in a particular state of conscious or unconscious (just like shurouq's) :)
we always have a tendency to weave from our past to our present, that's why I never regret a misunderstanding ,on the contrary, I find it rich with potentials and better understandings (as it reveals up here) misunderstanding (or failure) is "another" understanding that we shouldn't let it go :)
and about your fear statement, come on! what is identity, identity is never fully defined never fully remained... if you want or need to appreciate something in this world it would be in short: time, desire and scale. polarity is a platform rather than a drive. if we fully depended on polarity we would end up with additions "تكاثر" and categories. but time and desire (on different scales) are constructing the magic of life :)
(athainach ya shurouq, hatha mal sneen ma a3alleq 3indich 6ala3 kila halyomain ;))
thanks!
Speaking of looking back, this is like a sneak peak at college life all over again.

A reminder to all to visit SWS's blog; they way we treat our "servants" is just the way our government treats us, as servants.
Change the attitude on house maids to gain self-respect as citizens.
